About the Station
PlumasLakeWeather.com is a personal weather station run by the Stad family in Plumas Lake, California. It reports live conditions from our backyard — updated every few seconds — and shares them freely for our neighbors, the community, and anyone who's curious about the local sky.
At its heart is a WeatherFlow Tempest, a solar-powered, all-in-one sensor with no moving parts. It measures the weather directly; everything else on this site is calculated from those readings or drawn from public forecast and hazard feeds.
What the Tempest Measures
Temperature, humidity, wind, rain, UV, solar radiation, and pressure are measured directly. "Feels like," dew point, cloud base, wind chill, and heat index are computed from those, then quality-checked before they appear on the site. Rainfall is calibrated to nearby official gauges to correct the sensor's tendency to over-count in wind.
